Dear Parents/Guardians

Like so many people across the country, we were shocked and heartbroken by the events of
the latest tragedy in Connecticut. We offer our condolences as well as thoughts and concerns
to the Newtown community. Kilgore Independent School District’s top priority is the safety
and well-being of all of our students. We do have emergency plans at each campus in case of
emergency situations. We want to reassure you that your child is in the hands of very caring
adults who love them.

Our district has several counselors and staff available for students. If your child needs to
speak with a counselor, please do not hesitate to contact their school and ask for assistance or
students may also request to speak with a counselor anytime.

On another note, we will have an early dismissal for the holidays Thursday, December 20, 2012,
at 1:30 p.m. and we will resume Thursday, January 3, 3013. Happy Holidays!
