Coach Cheyenne Savony’s Lady Bulldogs, now with a near-full team and a good lineup of players, got hot over the weekend and won the Red Division of the Longview Highhosted Texas Two-Step Tournament, going 5- 1 in the event.
  •  Kilgore 13, Troup 12 (Saturday; extra innings): Kilgore played Troup in the championship, and it was a fitting finish
  • Marshall 11, Kilgore 3 (Saturday): This game, played earlier in the day on Saturday, was Kilgore’s only loss of the entire tournament, one that        Savony described as a good wake-up call before district play. Collins went 3-for-3 with a double. Cornett had a double, and Mehringer had a single.
  •  Kilgore 13, Longview 3 (Friday): The Lady Bulldogs’ bats were on fire in this one: they had 16 hits.
  •  Kilgore 9, Queen City 3 (Friday): This win was even more impressive considering Queen City had won a loaded tournament in Carthage to open the season. Kilgore looked dominant in this contest.

Kilgore (6-8 on the season now) was to begin its District 16-3A schedule at Spring Hill on Tuesday, but due to the icy weather, the game was re-scheduled, to be played Wednesday at 6 p.m., still at Spring Hill.

Kilgore visits Gilmer on Friday, a 4:30 p.m. junior varsity start, with varsity to follow.

Savony noted she hopes to get Ke’Nesha Coleman, who had been injured, back into the line-up this week.
