Kilgore Basketball to Regionals!

Bulldog Basketball knocks off Athens Tuesday night at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Gymnasium, a 69-44 win to qualify for regional tourney this weekend in Commerce

The Bulldogs, now 25-7 on the season, punched their ticket to the University Interscholastic League's Region II tournament this weekend at Texas A&M-Commerce, where they will meet defending state champion Dallas Madison, a 6 p.m. tipoff on Friday night.

Kilgore, who once struggled to get out of the bottom half of its district bracket, has transformed into one of the best basketball programs in East Texas, and maybe in all of Texas, in the fourth season under Coleman. The Bulldogs won the District 16-3A championship without losing a single district game. They've won 16 straight games, now, including three playoff wins (Van, Paris and Athens). The Bulldogs are, in short, in unchartered territory for a KHS boys basketball team.
