The Kilgore Lady Bulldogs were eliminated from the playoffs Tuesday night with a 52-48 loss to Crandall at neutral-site Eustace.
It was the third round of the Class 3A playoffs, the regional quarterfinals. And it was the farthest trip into the playoffs for the Lady 'Dogs in a decade.
Kilgore's girls beat Paris in Mount Pleasant in a second-round game last Friday.
Three Kilgore players hit double figures in scoring Tuesday night, but the Lady 'Dogs' just came up alittle short in a hard-fought playoff game.
Coach Jacquetta Brown took over a program that had been successful in the early 2000s, but was in dire need of an overhaul. She has done it -- with hard work by her players, assistant coaches Kathy Mehringer and Lacy Thompson, Kilgore is once again a girls basketball force in East Texas.
The Lady Bulldogs went 11-1 in claiming the District 16-3A title. They beat Mabank and Paris before falling to Crandall. Kilgore finished with a 23-9 record.
Congratulations 'Lady Dogs'!
